My Very Own Refusenik
(in post-production) Directed by Ezra Bookstein Produced by Ezra Bookstein One year before his Bar Mitzvah, his father died. It's a time in his life that he quickly blocked-out. Twenty-five years later, in this real life detective story, he interviews family and friends along a Quixotic journey across the globe in a search for the Soviet Jewish boy, the Refusenik, he was 'twinned' with for his Bar Mitzvah but never met. Last known address? Odessa, 1985. But the past proves slippery and difficult to grasp – as does his Refusenik.
